I had the immense opportunity to serve as a leader in many facets of my school community when I was in high school.
As a senior, I served in many positions within my building. I was Co-President of our Students Demand Action (SDA) chapter, I was a Student Ambassador to our school districts Board of Education, and I was a Drum Major of the marching band.
Outside my official capacity of SDA Co-President, I also co-organized a number of students led walkouts. These walkouts hosted hundreds of students and led to our community being more conscious of the gun violence epidemic in our nation and how we can stop it.
In Spring of 2024 I graduated from Wheaton North High School. I attended CUSD 200 schools for my entire K-12 education.
I knew I wanted to pursue some sort of higher education after graduation, but I wasn't quite sure what to study. So, I chose to attend community college at College of DuPage.
Even before I gained the right to vote, I was extremely active in our democratic process. I urge young people who are not yet eligible to vote to do the same. Make your voice heard.
I was proud to cast my first ballot in the 2024 primaries here in Illinois. And since early voting has opened in DuPage County in September, I have voted in my very first general election.
But before that, I was civically engaged in many ways. I worked as an election volunteer. And through the organization Students Demand Action, I advocated for common sense gun legislation at both our state capitol in Springfield and our nation's capitol in Washington D.C. I've also written postcards to swing state voters, phone banked, and knocked doors for candidates.
